Our Story

Cooks on Main opened in October 2010 in downtown Williston. Founder Angela Skogen, a Williston native and North Dakota State University graduate, spent more than ten years as a corporate buyer for Target before returning to her hometown to open the store during the region's oil boom.

The idea behind the store has stayed the same since day one: bring a big-city assortment of top-tier kitchen brands to Williston, paired with small-town customer service, so people do not have to travel to Minot or Bismarck for quality culinary tools.

In 2017, Cooks on Main expanded into the building next door, adding a full commercial kitchen and creating the Culinary Center, a dedicated space that has hosted cooking classes, demonstrations, and private events.

In late September 2026, Cooks on Main becomes one of only 7 stores in the nation with a dedicated in-store Le Creuset Shop, meaning a larger assortment, more exclusive items, and exclusive savings beyond the standard Le Creuset selection.

Do you offer cooking classes and private events?
Cooking classes and private events, including corporate team building, bridal showers, and private parties, have been part of Cooks on Main since we opened our Culinary Center in 2017. Contact us for current availability.

What is your cancellation policy for classes?
Classes are treated like event tickets. They are non-refundable, but transferable to another person if you are unable to attend.

Are kids allowed in classes?
Yes, when classes are running, our calendar has included kids' cooking classes alongside adult and family sessions.

Do you ship online orders?
Yes. Orders typically ship within 24 hours of confirmation.

What is your return policy?
New, unused merchandise can be returned within 30 days. Defective items must be reported within 48 hours of receipt.

Is Cooks on Main a culinary college or degree program?
No. We have a history as a recreational culinary school for home cooks, not a degree-granting institution.
