Ingredients

Directions

  1. Heat a cast iron skillet on medium‑high heat on the grill.
  2. Add bacon to the skillet and cook 10‑15 minutes until crisp. Remove the bacon, reserving the grease, and drain bacon on a paper towel.
  3. Add olive oil, shallots, and garlic to the skillet and cook until fragrant, about 2‑3 minutes.
  4. Add the green beans, barbecue rub, and balsamic. Stir to coat and cook until beans are bright green, about 4‑5 minutes.
  5. In a separate small pan on medium heat, add the bourbon and heat until bubbles form around the edges. Do not let it boil. Ignite the vapors above the bourbon with a long lighter.
  6. Pour the flaming bourbon into the green bean pan and shake gently until the flame dies out.
  7. Finish with sea salt and the cooked bacon. Enjoy immediately!

Recipe Notes

  • Do not use alcohol over 120 proof; 80 proof is recommended.
  • Heat and ignite the alcohol in a separate pan for better control.
  • Ignite vapors above the alcohol—not the liquid directly.
  • Avoid pouring alcohol directly from the bottle into the pan.
  • More oil in the pan creates a larger flame; shake until the flame disappears.
