Bacon Bourbon Green Beans Flambé
Servings: 4
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Ingredients
- 4 strips of bacon, diced
- 1 Tbsp maple‑wood smoked bacon infused olive oil
- 1 large shallot, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 lb green beans, ends trimmed
- 1½ Tbsp sweet applewood barbecue rub & seasoning
- 2 Tbsp bourbon barrel aged balsamic
- ¼ cup bourbon
- ½ tsp smokey bacon sea salt
Directions
- Heat a cast iron skillet on medium‑high heat on the grill.
- Add bacon to the skillet and cook 10‑15 minutes until crisp. Remove the bacon, reserving the grease, and drain bacon on a paper towel.
- Add olive oil, shallots, and garlic to the skillet and cook until fragrant, about 2‑3 minutes.
- Add the green beans, barbecue rub, and balsamic. Stir to coat and cook until beans are bright green, about 4‑5 minutes.
- In a separate small pan on medium heat, add the bourbon and heat until bubbles form around the edges. Do not let it boil. Ignite the vapors above the bourbon with a long lighter.
- Pour the flaming bourbon into the green bean pan and shake gently until the flame dies out.
- Finish with sea salt and the cooked bacon. Enjoy immediately!
Recipe Notes
- Do not use alcohol over 120 proof; 80 proof is recommended.
- Heat and ignite the alcohol in a separate pan for better control.
- Ignite vapors above the alcohol—not the liquid directly.
- Avoid pouring alcohol directly from the bottle into the pan.
- More oil in the pan creates a larger flame; shake until the flame disappears.
